FEMA Emergency Preparedness Online Training

The following online training programs are offered free of charge to the American public. It serves as both an alternate means to deliver valuable training to the professional and volunteer emergency management community, and an opportunity to improve public awareness and promote disaster preparedness nationally.

IS-100 Introduction to Incident Command System, I-100

ICS 100, Introduction to the Incident Command System, introduces the Incident Command System (ICS) and provides the foundation for higher level ICS training. This course describes the history, features and principles, and organizational structure of the Incident Command System. It also explains the relationship between ICS and the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

 

IS-700 National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction

This course introduces NIMS and takes approximately three hours to complete. It explains the purpose, principles, key components and benefits of NIMS. The course also contains "Planning Activity" screens giving you an opportunity to complete some planning tasks during this course. The planning activity screens are printable so that you can use them after you complete the course.

 

IS-800.A National Response Plan (NRP), An Introduction

The National Response Plan, or NRP, describes how the Federal Government will work in concert with State, local, and tribal governments and the private sector to respond to disasters. This course introduces the NRP. It is intended for DHS and other Federal staff responsible for implementing the NRP, and Tribal, State, local and private sector emergency management professionals.

 

IS-22 Are You Ready? An In-depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness

The "Are You Ready? An In-Depth Guide to Citizen Preparedness" has been designed to help the citizens of this nation learn how to protect themselves and their families against all types of hazards. It can be used as a reference source or as a step-by-step manual. The focus of the content is on how to develop, practice, and maintain emergency plans that reflect what must be done before, during, and after a disaster to protect people and their property. Also included is information on how to assemble a disaster supplies kit that contains the food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity for individuals and their families to survive.

 

IS-55 Household Hazardous Materials - A Guide for Citizens

This course was designed for the general public. The course will introduce you to household hazardous materials and things you can do to protect yourself and your family from injury or death.

 

IS-394.A Protecting Your Home or Small Business From Disaster

Protecting your Home or Small Business from Disaster aims to provide a foundation of knowledge that will enable participants to learn about different types of natural disasters, hazards that pose a risk to their home or small business, protective measures, and how to secure people, business property, and building structures and prevent business loss from a natural disaster

Institute for Corporate and Public Safety

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Office of Grants and Training (G&T) funded courses were written as a collaborative effort between ICPS and public and private sector partners. The purpose of these courses is to provide businesses the ability to recognize, report and react to manmade and natural disasters. Online course offerings include: Terrorism & WMD Awareness in the Workplace.
