There are many ways residents and businesses can be involved in the ReadyOC campaign, the community and at work to make a difference for Orange County.

Learn about the resources that are available in cities throughout Orange County and across the nation. Be part of a CERT program to be trained to help your community in case of emergencies. Encourage your business to be a partner with the ReadyOC campaign and distribute important information to employees.

Most importantly, stay engaged with the ReadyOC campaign by signing up for the ReadyOC newsletter, downloading materials from the readyoc.org website and passing the word around about the importance of preparing.

For residents:
  • Meet with your neighbors to plan how the community could be ready for an emergency.
  • Introduce emergency preparedness as a new activity at your neighborhood organization.
  • Know your neighbors' special skills (e.g., medical, technical)
  • Consider how you could help neighbors who have special needs, such as disabled and elderly persons.
  • Attend a local CERT class to help your neighborhood better prepare in the event of an emergency.
For businesses:
  • Make sure your business has an updated plan and emergency kit.
  • Contact your local emergency professionals and organizations on how to be better prepared.
  • Disseminate ReadyOC information to all employees.
  • Inform your customers and clients about the need to prepare.
  • Become a ReadyOC partner.
